It’s Raining Chocolate: a new review every month

Preparing these reviews is such a fun project: I get to eat and write about chocolate at the same time! If only you could see me smile right now (mustn’t forget to rid editing desk of potential chocolate stains though…)
An additional reason to produce reviews has to do with the current self-isolation time. New travel articles or coffee reviews are not logistically possible due to closed borders and coffee bars, however I do have such content from before this period waiting in the pipeline if there’s a demand for it.

On the bright side weekly grocery shopping is allowed and Belgian supermarkets offer a quite broad variety of chocolate. That is… unless someone decides to buy all the chocolate for themselves, I would never do that ;)
I’ll present a refined tablet of chocolate to you every month in the form of a review. Fair trade and sustainability will be taken into account as much as possible. The main varieties dark and milk chocolate will be discussed and I’ll do my best to find a pleasant brand of white chocolate*. Flavoured chocolate or varieties with nuts or superfoods and at least one vegan or lactose-free version will be reviewed as well.

*It’s no secret that I’m not fond at all of white chocolate, however it wouldn’t be fair to exclude it completely from the reviews. There are balanced white chocolates out there…somewhere

Dit is zo’n leuk nieuw project! Ik kan tegelijk chocolade eten én erover schrijven [wrijft zich in de handen en grijnst] mits het wegpoetsen van chocoladevlekken op m’n bureau :)
Daarnaast vraag ik me reeds enkele dagen af welke content ik naar voren kan brengen in deze tijden waar de meesten van ons noodgedwongen thuis zitten #blijfinuwkot. Nieuwe reisartikels of koffie reviews zijn om die reden even niet mogelijk op de blog, is er trouwens vraag naar zulk een artikel van voor de thuisblijf-periode?

Aangezien wekelijks winkelen wel nog kan en er in de Belgische supermarkten een mooie keuze aan chocolade beschikbaar is heb ik besloten jullie elke maand een verfijnd tablet chocolade voor te stellen, met oog voor zo veel mogelijk fair trade en duurzaamheid. Het zal een afwisseling worden van teksten over fondant, melk en (ik doe m’n best) minstens 1 goede variëteit witte chocolade*. En ja, speciale smaken plus een fijne vegan of lactosevrije optie komen zeker ook aan bod.

* in de Chocolate Q&A kan je lezen dat ik echt niet tuk ben op witte chocolade maar uitzonderlijk wel overtuigd kan worden door mooi gebalanceerde variëteiten.
